Get your gift on at Torvehallerne
December 14th 2011, Posted By jens In GoseeWhile we usually just bring a back copy of ye olde magazine for our Christmas hosts – plug it where you can, right? – we realise it’s considered more appropriate to bring something neat and, well, thoughtful. Good thing, then, that Torvehallerne in Copenhagen on Israels Plads (behind Nørrebro Station) just so happen to be flush with all things neat and thoughtful. It’s basically the stuff hostess gift dreams are made of.
Torvehallerne are divided into two halls, offering amazing temptations such as chocolates, cheeses, meats, cupcakes, flowers, teas, and olives – well it is Christmas after all – and if you get peckish while you’re there, you can always hit up the very authentic tapas bar (Barcelona style) at the end of Hall 1. Or, you know, go for the free samples.
Until 23 December 2011 you should also visit the rather brilliant Christmas Market between the two halls. It’s got everything a Christmas heart desires, from handcrafted ceramics to chai teas, and Scandinavian Christmas delicacies par excellence: rice pudding from It-eatery GRØD at Jægerborgsgade, Nørrebro and organic hot glögg.
