Georg Jensen FTW

HM The Queen of Denmark and HRH The Prince Consort

We interrupt the stream of menswear week images with a little post from Georg Jensen’s recent event in New York, celebrating the company’s new retrospective exhibition, Centuries of Sterling Icons. The lovely Fernanda Palmeiro at GJ (who also happens to be DANSK’s former Deputy Editor) knows that sending me an email that opens with ‘Georg Jensen hosted Danish Royal Visit’ guarantees I’m on the DANSK WordPress dashboard uploading images faster than you can say curtsy.

Beauteous Georg Jensen pieces + the Danish royals = so much win. Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark and His Royal Highness The Prince Consort were in New York for the opening of the exhibition (done in their honour, of course) and HM Queen Margrethe II scored so many style points for wearing polka dots ahead of the autumn/winter season. Attentive readers will of course remember our New Year’s fashion extravaganza featuring all the Queen’s 38 New Year’s speech looks. (Click HERE for a refresher.) And how cool is HRH Prince Henrik – it’s all about the tie and the lilac shirt.

It really was a Dane-tastic event: the gorge Oh Land performed, Helena Christensen looked super sultry, Camilla Stærk rocked her alluring signature turban look and Hamish Bowles looked super spiffy as per usual (okay, he’s not really Danish at all, but he totes could be.).

The exhibition runs until the end of June at Georg Jensen’s Madison Avenue store – check it out.

Please join us as we live stream the Burberry Prorsum men’s show on Saturday 18th, at 5 PM (Milan time).

Ah, the wonderful world of technology! Some of us still remember the days when we’d sit and click ‘update’ on TheFashionForum.com to no end, in the hope that someone had put up an early picture from the show.

And as if broadcasting their show to the world wasn’t enough, the awesome people at Burberry Prorsum will be offering outerwear and bags to purchase immediately following the show from Burberry.com, via Runway to Reality. Orders can be placed until June 27th for delivery within eight weeks.

Enjoy the show, y’all!

Louboutin launches in Copenhagen

Christian Louboutin

Copenhageners and shoe fetishists alike rejoice today as Christian Louboutin opens his first store in our little Danish capital. It’s not far from our head office, actually.

While I’m used to buying my Louboutins squeezed up against a London department store window by really, really bling gangstas (the gangstas and I are the most die-hard of the Louboutin men’s trainer fans and will stand in line overnight, hence the situation), I have often spent an hour or two browsing the oases that are the London Louboutin boutiques – and I can assure you, Danish readers, it’s quite the experience.

Visit the Louboutin shop on Grønnegade 6 in central Copenhagen.

Tweeting with the editors

Anders Christian Madsen

While ye olde DANSK is only just getting comfortable with Facebook and hasn’t ventured into the world of extended social networking quite yet (inside DANSK lives a fabulous elderly lady – she may not own a computer, but she’s really fabulous), our editors are getting all kinds of modern!

Our Senior Editor, Anders Christian Madsen, just joined Twitter a week ago and is already showing skill – he tweeted the hell out of the DANSK Fashion Awards last week.

Follow him for all DANSK-related updates and general banter on: www.twitter.com/anderscmadsen

And don’t forget to follow our Contributing Fashion Editor, Anders Sølvsten Thomsen, on: www.twitter.com/anderslondon

Get tweetin’, tweety pies!

LeCrazyHorse

Crazy Horse London

LeCrazyHorse

Last night, Le Crazy Horse descended upon London for the premiere of the first-ever UK show at Notting Hill’s Supperclub, and DANSK was in attendance, along with everyone from the awesome Ronnie Wood to the hotness that is Eddie Redmayne. (We also got a bit excited when we saw Graham Norton.)

To quote Alison Brie in Scream 4, can I just say this about the Crazy Horse girls: fuckmewow. Thanks to Ali Mahdavi’s art directing genius the show is glamorous seventies noir perfection with a drizzle of Vegas show girl, and Philippe DecouflĂ©’s choreography is friggin’ flawless. One of the vignettes was done to a rendition of Toxic and we really want to see Brit-Brit dancing with that sort of kick in her step – Philippe’s agent so needs to make an introduction there.

The London show is initially set to run for a month. Dinner and a show will be ÂŁ65 – click here to book.

Why, thank you – we wish we could spend all our mornings in the surroundings of updated old-English amazingness and amazing grooming tools. Go visit the new Murdock shop in Monmouth Street – next to the Covent Garden Hotel.

Harrods dog salon - how friggin' fabulous?

I know Harrods have a policy that restricts you from taking pictures in inappropriate store areas such as Fine Jewellery and the Banking Hall, but I think the dog salon is a totes appropriate place to start snapping away. I mean, look at that dog on the right. Such a poser.

Just how friggin’ chic is that place? Lucky bitches.*

*my apologies to any boy dogs in this picture.

Weekday Helle Mardahl

Weekday Helle Mardahl

Weekday Helle Mardahl

If you’ve picked up a copy of the s/s 11 issue of DANSK, you’ll know we love us some Helle Mardahl – and at DANSK HQ, various paintings by the Danish artist currently grace the walls. So when Weekday threw a little party this week to celebrate the fact that they now have their own Helle Mardahl mural in their Copenhagen store, we were there in an instant.

At Antonio Berardi

At Antonio Berardi

Major house lust at the Berardi show at Drapers’ Hall.

Mr and Mrs Boss may be all about the minimalist Scandi interiors, but Junior Madsen and I just can’t help ourselves around a gilded ceiling, a chandelier and a portrait of HM The Queen.
