2 COMMENTSQueen Margrethe’s 40 New Year’s looks
January 1st 2012, Posted By anders In Cover GirlsOf all the Danes in the world, no one is quite as fabulous as Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Every year on New Year’s Eve at 6 PM on the dot, Her Majesty’s New Year’s speech is broadcast live to the kingdom of Denmark (and globally online to Danes abroad). Last night marked the Queen’s fortieth New Year’s speech, as well as iconic-New-Year’s-speech-outfit no. 40.
An icon of Mr Pearl’s – and certainly of the DANSK office, too – Her Majesty is the most adventurous dresser in the royal sphere, not to mention the most amazingly dressed. And while the fashion industry knows a thing or two about signature looks, none of the fashion greats do it quite like the Queen. Here, we give you all Her Majesty’s looks from four decades of New Year’s speeches.
Happy New Year to all DANSK readers, and in the words of the Queen (with which she famously ends her New Year’s speeches), God save Denmark!
2011: (image above) Last night, Her Majesty rocked a silk blouse so perfect we’ll be referencing it from this point forward. Perfection in dusty blue silk, flawlessly accessorised with new jewels and the Queen’s signature red lips and nails. Queens of the world, take note. This is how one should roll.

1972: It was a softly styled and very young new monarch who gave her first New Year’s speech after her father, H.M. King Frederik IX, passed away that same year. The Queen was 32. Notice the empowering hair style.

1973: Statement jewellery and statement hair added a certain authority to Her Majesty’s second speech. A sharper shoulder is introduced.

1974: Chanello! And with a low yet precisely appropriate cut. Stunning.

1975: Working the waves, Her Majesty is all of a sudden returning to a softer look. Her speech gave hope to a largely unemployed nation – ah, those jolly seventies!
IT GETS AMAZING AFTER THIS! CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL THE QUEEN’S NEW YEAR’S LOOKS, INCLUDING LAST NIGHT’S SPEECH.,,
2 COMMENTSGucci a go-go
December 4th 2011, Posted By susanne In Cover GirlsL-O-V-I-N-G the Gucci Twitter this weekend. The Gucci Masters are on (that’s a major showjumping event for those of you that don’t speak horse), and fittingly, the Gucci team – Charlotte Casiraghi and Edwina Tops-Alexander – won the fancy dress Style and Competition class for their Gucci disco ensembles and clear rounds. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t see these costumes when I was 12. There would have been major pre-teen tantrums over the fact that I couldn’t have sparkly Gucci jodhpurs and a tasseled Gucci belt for my fancy dress event at the pony club.

READ MORE / POST YOUR COMMENTHurts hotness at Mulberry
September 18th 2011, Posted By susanne In Cover GirlsSo yeah. Mulberry know how to throw a party. The ballroom at Claridge’s was covered in balloon animals and seaside funfair props – I failed at the claw machine but DANSK contributor Anthony Stephinson won a totes cute Mulberry bear. So. Jealous.
And then Hurts went on and I think I nearly died. Right after I’m done marrying my boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio I’m marrying Theo, who wears sunglasses at night, throws white roses at the audience (Anders Sølvsten Thomsen caught one. So. Jealous.) and draws emo-goth crosses in the air. And they played Kylie’s Confide in Me, which is only, like, one of the best songs ever.

September 17th 2011, Posted By susanne In Cover GirlsWe’re not normally in the business of taking pics of celebs at shows, but we had to get a sneaky little shot (sorry, sneaky wee little shot, of course) of Lorraine Kelly sitting FROW at Julien Macdonald. Love the Lorraine.

I know, CW. You think I’m cheating on you with that headline, but don’t worry. You and I are still, like, forever, baby. It’s just that HBO have been luring me in with their totes amazing Game of Thrones. If you haven’t already watched the first season, you are missing out.
So come with me, as I take you to a medieval fantasy land far, far away, filled with ridic hawtness. Oh, and HBO: please if you can also add James Marsters and Jamie Campbell Bower to the Games next season I’d really appreciate it.

The hotness that is Harry Lloyd. I’m way upset *spoiler alert* that Kahl Drogo gave him that, um, golden shower.

Look at that adorably tormented face. (Bastard sons have no luck. Shucks.) L-O-V-E Kit Harington. Swoon.

Eugene Simon and I are getting married, like, real soon, OK yah?

Denmark’s hottest export. Someone give Nikolaj Coster-Waldau a Ralph Lauren campaign already.
To me, he’ll always be Stuart Alan Jones in Queer as Folk, but Aidan Gillen is still hot damn as Littlefinger. And he gets a gif because it’s all about the eyebrow action.

Look at you, Justin Bieber, carrying us through this horrible deadline week with your angelic voice and dashing good looks! It’s like an angel came by and took us to heaven. We’re like baby?
The Biebs’ impressive discography – My World, My World 2.0, and My Worlds: The Collection – is playing nonstop at Camp DANSK today, and it’ll be a bloody better issue for it, Justin! You smile, we smile.
Because of you, Justin – and, in part, Jayden Smith – we’ve learned never to say never and keep working towards that Monday morning, when it’s all done and dusted. We’ll buy you anything, we’ll buy you any ring.
