BUT IS IT ART?

In the new issue at DANSK Magazine we question the relationship between art and fashion. Does fashion turn art when Miu Miu apply illustrations by Swedish artist Liselotte Watkins to little dresses? Does Dior Homme enter the art sphere by showing in a museum rather than on a catwalk? Does Lacroix’s work classify as art when it’s exhibited in a Paris museum?
We don’t want to be an art magazine. Rather, we want to explore the intriguing and ever-shifting link between fashion and art. What are your thoughts on this subject? And why do you think art is so modern right now?

Art inspires fashions. fashion then becomes a kind of art, with ideologies, styles and meanings beneath it. One could easily see fashion as art, but seldom art as fashion. It is not which is more superior, but it is the essence that they share together

Your magazine just got out in norway today - and it looks so interesting. For me fashion and art is not the same... art is a spiritual thing - fashion is just clothes that are made to keep your body warm!

for me fashion is definitely art. I work as a designer and know a lot of artists, and we all work very much a like. Them painting a picture isn't more of making art than me designing a dress.
