Wigging out

Poodle Uffe

Famed hair stylist Henrik Haue is preparing the wigs for today’s DANSK shoot and here’s yours truly trying one on for size. As I used to be quite into frizzy perms back in the eighties this was quite a pleasant stroll down memory lane…

I don’t understand why more people don’t have perms these days… Really tres chic, non?

Camping out

July 14th 2010, Posted By uffe In DANSKWORLD

Camping cool

This morning I did my regular stint on Denmark’s national breakfast show, broadcasting from the lovely Tivoli gardens in the centre of Copenhagen. Today’s topic was how to dress for a camping trip – because a) dressing down obviously requires as much attention as dressing up, and b) someone (a cow, a farmer, the village idiot) might see you in the middle of a field and judge you for your lack of fashion sense, obviously.

None of us have the time to follow our own fashion advice and go camping, though, what with the deadline for the autumn/winter issue being less than a week away…

Katie in da house

Katie Fogarty

The gorge Katie Fogarty paid us a visit at DANSK HQ in Copenhagen this morning. We’re shooting with Katie today for the a/w issue in one of Copenhagen’s coolest locations. (One word hint as to where this place is: anarchy.)

Sorry for dragging you all the way here, Katie, but this was an opportunity we couldn’t miss. At least you’re staying in five star luxury at the fabulous Hotel Skt. Petri. Every little helps!

Three is a charm

Elite Model Look winners

Last night the Danish Elite Model Look contest took place in the fancy Asbæk Gallery in Copenhagen. By looking at the picture you would think this is the winner and the two runners up. Oh no no nooo… The Danish DNA is better than that!

The judges – who flew in from Elite agencies around the world – couldn’t decide and ended up making a ‘world’s first’ decision: for the first time in history, three girls from the same country are going to the international competition in Shanghai later this year. From left, Eva, Louise and Trine. Amazing! Keep an eye on these three young Danish beauties. Next stop might be Paris and New York…

Topmodel: Werk it, gurrl!

Topmodel

Today was the first day of filming Denmark’s Next Topmodel with Baroness-turned-TV-presenter, Caroline Fleming, as Tyra and me as, well… Jay, I guess.

We spent the day in the company of the one hundred most promising girls (out of an original 3000) as they did their freestyle walk down a pink runway at the waterfront of the Copenhagen harbour.  I already have my favourites…

Oh Caroline

Caroline at Elite Copenhagen

There’s always a certain sense of patriotism in the air when we attend Fashion Month. But during the last couple of seasons it’s only really been our darling Freja who’s given us an opportunity to wave the Danish flag by the runway. (Denmark couldn’t even manage a medal in curling at the recent Winter Olympics – dire times indeed.)

But when Elite Copenhagen’s Caroline Brasch Nielsen suddenly materialized at Balenciaga, all that changed. And from there, Caroline trotted out at Chanel, YSL, Celine, Louis Vuitton and many, many more. (Attentive readers may also have spotted her in the main pic for our Dries Van Noten backstage post.)

We’ve got to hand it to Munir, Elite Copenhagen’s new boss: he’s had a rather spectacular start to his new post. It was of course none other than Munir who discovered Caroline last year when she was having lunch at a restaurant in Copenhagen. He immediately snapped her up for a test shoot and the rest, as they say, is history.

Apart from Paris, Caroline already has two seasons at Copenhagen Fashion Week under her chic belt. And we can’t wait to have her in the next issue of DANSK. Congratulations!

Jean Paul Gaultier A/W 2010

March 7th 2010, Posted By uffe In Fashion Theory

Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier likes Mongolia, Peru, Bolivia, and just about anywhere else in the world that’s isn’t known as the Western World. This was evident in last night’s show, where fine tailoring and brilliant fur pieces came together in a Mongolian fantasia en masse – folkloric soundtrack included.

Chanel invite

The Chanel invites arrived this morning … and it’s a polar bear illustration that looks exactly like one of those famous Royal Copenhagen porcelain polar bears! Is Karl paying homage to Royal Copenhagen?
