When too much is not enough

After a night of wigs and heels (good times!) for my 21st birthday, I have decided that I will embrace the femme fatale in me and start wearing – wait for it – an earing! Yes, that’s right: at the age of… none of your business… it occurred to me that an earring would give me back some edge. But the question is: one or two? Big or small? Simple or SHOCKING? So I’m thinking… go for it. The holes from gold studs of yesteryear are in intact and ready to be showcased to the world with large diamonds. If men are wearing skirts next season, can’t I sure as hell wear some serious hangin’ metal from my ears?

Josephine Baker, who has long been a huge icon to me, lets rip with full ‘my-earrings-go-from-ear-to-ear’. Although she is of course something I am not… a woman! She was also very beautiful and could handle the tribal feel of her bling. I’m from Essex and grow a beard – not the same thing? It breaks my heart that I will have to keep it simple and although I want earrings of Pat Butcher stature, it has to be excepted that I am just a mere mortal who just can’t get enough of a good thing: m’bling.

Maybe chandeliers alongside a stud? No?

Bo yacka!

Spring/summer 10 will see me heading to Delroy’s in Wells Street Hackney for a drastic new look. I have finally given in and at the grand old age of 28 (no comments please) have decided to go all Bo Derek for the impending summer romance that I hope to commence when the clocks go back (to the late 70s).

Bo Derek, you may think, is not an icon to a mid-thirties man with a beard… but trust me, with this much hair I plan to corn row the whole lot.
