Pop-up Queen

Macy’s in Century City, California, will tomorrow open a pop-up exhibition dedicated to the queen of pop, Madonna.

Madonna herself has hand-picked eight pieces from her costume archive, including the famous Jean Paul Gaultier conical corset and wedding dress worn at MTV VMAs in 1984. Since Macy’s currently hold the latest collection from the Material Girl line, created by Madonna and her daughter Lourdes, it is the perfect time for the exhibition. The extravagant singer is very well known for her bold, humorous, interesting and sometimes shocking choice of clothes, and we would therefore love to see this exhibition.

The pop-up exhibition will only be open Thursday April 25 from 6pm to 8pm.

The Donatella Chair

Be prepared! The Italian label, Versace, has teamed up with the LA based furniture design company, Haas Brothers, for a special project. The twin brothers, Simon and Nikolai Haas, have created a 12-piece homage to Donatella’s style for Versace Home including the ‘Honeycomb Club chair’ and the ‘Bondage bench’.

The duo has also created a chair designed in Donatella’s honour. Made of honeycomb brass and black leather upholstery, the ‘Donatella chair’ is inspired by the ‘blond and rock ‘n roll glamour’ of the Italian fashion designer.

The Donatella chair is set to go on display at Milan’s Salone del Mobile 2013 design showcase from 9^th to 14^th April 2013. We can’t wait to sit in Donatella!

In the mood for Baum und Pferdgarten

Yesterday we visited the amazing showroom of the Danish brand Baum und Pferdgarten. The AW13 collection was inspired by one of Dansk’s favourite Chinese movies “In the Mood for Love”.  The collection, that Baum und Pferdgarten showed during Copenhagen Fashion Week in February, contains colourful items, amazing prints and looks that are very wearable. What can we say; the DANSK team is very much in the mood for Baum und Pferdgarten!

Neck Plus Ultra – Solo exhibition by Henrik Vibskov

From the 25th of March to the 8th of May you will have the opportunity to experience the exuberant and captivating world of Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov. The artist will be presenting his first major solo exhibition in both Kunstforeningen Gl. Strand in Copenhagen and Galerie des Galeries in Paris.

The exhibition ’NECK PLUS ULTRA’ plays on words with the Latin expression Nec plus ultra – meaning ’nothing further beyond’ while also referring to the neck as an anatomical reference and Vibskov’s collection for AW 2013: The Stiff Neck Chamber. Among various colours, shapes and textiles, Vibskov mixes the use of audio and tactile senses all together into one exhibition.

The exhibition ’NECK PLUS ULTRA’ will be shown at Kunstforeningen Gl. Strand from 25th May until 8th September 2013 and at  Galerie des Galeries from 27th February until 8th May 2013

Crush of the week: Coco from Quadron

This weeks crush is the Danish singer Coco from the Danish pop soul duo Quadron, who is a rising star in the music industry. Last week Quadron won the “Talent Price” at the Award Show ’P3 Gold’ and though it took Denmark a little time to find Coco, she already have fans around the wold such as Prince and Adele.

Besides that, the cool singer has worked with some of the heavy boys in the industry such as Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams and Taylor The Creator. Coco is featured with the song ‘Where the Wind Blows’ on the new soundtrack for The Great Gatsby (out in cinemas in May) produced by Jay-Z himself! Denmark has a new diva, and she is going to take the world!

White eyes

Since the summer and its bright colours is right around the corner, it seems quite suiting that the white sunglasses have come back in style. Above you see a quite sophisticated Kriss van Assche model designed in colaboration with Linda Farrow. Definitely one of the more appealing pair of white sunglasses spotted on the runways this season.

Crush of the week: The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton

At the DANSK office we are true fans of all the European Royal families, which means that the Duchess of Cambridge, HRH Kate Middelton, is never out of our sight.

We adore her classic style and her love for Scandinavian fashion. Yesterday, at the mark of the 150 years of the London Underground, the Duchess was yet again seen in cool Danish brand By Malene Birger. More Kate Middleton in Scandinavian fashion please!
